“…1a, b) were remarkably reduced in all the growth phases under study. Our results are in consistent with the result of Tiyagi et al (2004) in chickpea and Mishra et al (2008Mishra et al ( , 2009 in Vigna unguiculata L. and Momordica charantia, respectively. Reduction in plant growth at higher concentration of chlorpyrifos could be due to the inhibition of activity of 4-hydroxyl phenyl pyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) which in needed for growth and development of meristematic tissue which is confirmed with the result of Luscombe et al (1995) while treated maize and sugarcane with isoxaflutole.…”

“…In concordance with our results, Bashir et al (2007) showed a similar increase of SOD activity after application of deltamethrin to Glycine max. Moreover, SOD activity increased in M. charantia after treatment by dimethoate (Mishra et al 2009). In other side, the electrophoretic analysis revealed the presence of 3 isoenzymes of SOD in tomato seedlings and leaves and just one isoenzyme in roots; generally, the isoenzymes in treated samples were more active compared to control.…”

“…Therefore, a preferential synthesis/ activation of this enzyme by Korean pine needles counteracts oxidative stress. The increase in the CAT, APX, and SOD activities are frequently observed under stressful conditions (Yazici et al 2007, Mishra et al 2009). Lu et al (2009) reported that UV-B and exogenous ABA stresses significantly increased the activities of CAT, SOD, and GPX.…”
