“…It has been reported that amphotericin B complexed with cholesterol is at least four times more active than amphotericin B alone in L. donovani-infected hamsters [35]. Moreover, some fatty acid derivatives have been reported with antileishmanial and antimalarial activity [36][37][38][39]. Hence, remarkable antiprotozoal activity of the PE extracts of LC and LCC could be due to their fatty acids and sterol constituents.…”

“…(S. villosa) it is a Leguminoceae, widely distributed in the south of Mexico. It had been previously reported their in vitro antiprotozoal properties (Guzman et al, 2004), and from the leaves was isolated the compound (8-hydroxymethylen)-trieicosanyl acetate, with antiprotozoal activity in vitro against T. cruzi (3.3 and 6.6 μg/mL) (Guzman et al, 2008) and in vivo, in infected mice (8.4 and 33.6 μg/g) beginning the treatment with the compound immediately after the inoculation (Jimenez-Coello et al, 2010), however, this condition was hypothetical, because in a real scenario, a patient would begin a treatment some days after of the infection. The aim of this study was to determine antiprotozoal activity in vivo against of T. cruzi (amastigotes and trypomastigotes) during the established acute phase of the Chagas´ disease and the infection development after the suppression of treatment with the evaluated compound.…”

“…14 estilbenoides, dentre outros, como constituintes químicos de maior ocorrência, associados às atividades antibacteriana, citotóxica, antifúngica, antioxidante e hepatoprotetora relatadas. [17][18][19][20][21] O gênero Senna se diferencia quimicamente pela ocorrência de alcaloides piperidínicos tipo alcaloides 2,6-dialquil-piperidin-3-óis, raros na natureza. 17 Figura 1.…”
