Antireflection Enhancement by Composite Nanoporous Zeolite 3A–Carbon Thin Film

Abstract: A straightforward and effective spin-coating technique at 120 °C was investigated for the deposition of a thin nanoporous layer with antireflection properties onto glass and indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass. A mixture of zeolite 3A powder and high iodine value vegetable oil was deposited, creating a carbonic paste with embedded nanoporous grains. Experimental results evidenced excellent broadband antireflection over the visible-near-infrared wavelength range (450–850 nm), with a diffuse reflectance value of… Show more

“…The parameter ρ is a Q-component [42] that characterizes amplitude anisotropy of the interaction with light. The registered signal is the polarization difference ρ(λ) = R s −R p [42][43][44]. R s and R p are the spectra of reflectance for s-polarized and p-polarized light, respectively.…”

“…Nanoporous materials were recently investigated as anti-reflective coatings because of the correlation between the refractive index and the porosity, improving light transmission. The availability of materials with a low refractive index is limited, therefore porous materials are used to lower and obtain the required refractive index by controlling the density of the material [ 38 , 39 , 40 ]. Zeolite constitutes a family of mineral aluminum-silicates, structurally different from normal silicates or aluminates and widely used in ion exchange applications and molecular sieves.…”

“…Zeolite is a type of microporous material consisting of TO 4 (T = Al, Si), which can be loaded with functional materials. Previously, 3A zeolites have been incorporated into composite films and showed excellent broadband anti-reflection over the visible–near-infrared wavelength range [ 12 , 13 ]. Moreover, the nanoparticle-loaded 4A-zeolite was used to prepare the PVA/gelatin films, which may be used as an environmentally friendly alternative to plastic packaging materials in the food industries [ 14 ].…”
