“…Hematite nanoparticles, crystallizing in the rhombohedral system and showing a weak ferromagnetic behavior at room temperature [1], have been extensively used as catalyst [2,3], pigment [4], gas sensor [5], optical devices [6], and medicine applications [7]. Magnetite and maghemite, instead, crystallizing in the cubic crystal system and with a ferromagnetic behavior at room temperature, have been widely exploited in technological applications including information storage [8], sensors [9], refrigeration [10], and coil cores [11], as well as in contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging [12,13], and potential mediator for magnetic hyperthermia [14].…”

“…Yamamoto Vinyter Co. and Tazawa et al developed the 500 kHz inductive heating system TY-1 with four rolls of water-cooled hollow coils [38]. In 1996, Dai-Ichi High Frequency Co. and Kobayashi et al developed a 118 kHz solenoid type applicator with a horizontal coil (inner diameter, 7 cm; length, 7 cm) for MNHT [17].…”

“…Induction heating of magnetic oxide particles (by eddy current) is insignificant due to low electric conductivity [366]. Acceptability of magnetic nanoparticles coated with dextran for hyperthermia of mouth cavity [367] is tested in combination with genetic therapy and hyperthermia with usage of cation liposomes, i.e. liposomes filled with magnetic nanoparticles [368].…”
