Antiviral activity and mechanism of action of arbidol against Hantaan virus infection

Abstract: Purpose: To investigate the activity and mechanism of action of arbidol against Hantaan virus (HTNV) activity by modulating inflammation via TLR-4 pathway. Methods: HUVEC cells infected with HTNV 76-118 were treated with serially diluted arbidol solutions at -2h (2 h before viral infection, pre-treatment mode), 0 h (at the same time as viral infection, simultaneous treatment mode) or 2 h (2 h after viral infection, post-treatment mode). The transcript levels of TLR4 were detected by semi-quantitative reverse t… Show more

“…Arborol's enormous potential as a broad‐spectrum antiviral drug, as established in vitro and in vivo investigations, provides promise for its clinical application against a variety of infectious illnesses that are now untreatable. And arbidol also exerts anti‐inflammatory effects anti‐inflammatory activities against various types of viruses, such as influenza viruses, herpes simplex virus type II (HSV‐2) and hantavirus 31–33 . Here, we used a mouse‐adapted HCoV‐OC43 model with typical pulmonary disease symptoms and invested the effect of arbidol against HCoV‐OC43 infection.…”

Sucking mice were inoculated by injection of 10 000 LD 50 ( were both followed when performing animal experiments.…”
