Anwendung von Gd-DTPA bei der kernspintomographischen Untersuchung der Mamma

Abstract: 55 patients with altogether 60 breast masses have been examined postoperatively by plain MR, MR with Gd-DTPA and mammography at our institution. All breast carcinomas and fibroadenomas did enhance significantly. Non-proliferative dysplasia, normal breast tissue and scar tissue did not enhance significantly. Borderline enhancement has been found in cases of proliferative dysplasia. The diagnostic accuracy has been improved by MR with Gd-DTPA. Advantages have been an improved visualization of tumors in dense bre… Show more

“…First experiences with MRI in the 1970s did not render further information in the detection and characterization of breast tumors. The application of paramagnetic contrast material allowed visualization of hypervascularized lesions [11,12]. By using gradient-echo sequences and dynamic measurement protocols a high sensitivity for breast cancer was achieved.…”

“…Furthermore, we used Zsummary to evaluate the functional module preservation [11]. Zsummary is comprised of four statistics related to density and three connectivityrelated statistics, and it was created to quantitatively assess whether the density and connectivity patterns of modules defined in a reference dataset are preserved in a test dataset.…”

“…Reports of the ability to differentiate carcinoma from benign tissue with CE-MRI came first from Germany by Heywang et al [47,48] in 1986, who used a spin echo T1-weighted sequence before and after the administration of intravenous Gd-DTPA, with an imaging time of approximately five minutes and a slice thickness of 5 mm. With the development of fast T1-weighted gradient echo pulse sequences, ªdynamicº MR whole breast imaging became feasible.…”
