Abstract:This work presents the use of multilevel inverters in a non-sinusoidal permanent magnet synchronous machine to reduce the harmonic content in the currents. Due to the construction of this machine, the back electromotive force presents a non-sinusoidal characteristic, which has as main consequence the presence of ripple in the electromagnetic torque produced by the machine. Such oscillations decrease the efficiency of the machine, and can cause vibrations in the motor shaft, reducing its useful life. To mitigat… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
