Application of 3D Seismic Attribute Analyses for Hydrocarbon Prospectivity in Uzot-Field, Onshore Niger Delta Basin, Nigeria

Abstract: 3D seismic interpretative study was carried out across the Uzot-field in the western Coastal Swamp Depobelt of the onshore Niger Delta Basin, Nigeria, with the aim to identify possible hydrocarbon leads and prospects away from the drilled zone, utilizing seismic amplitude attributes. The method employed in this study involved systematic picking of faults and mapping of horizons/reservoir tops across seismic volume and extraction of seismic attributes. Structural analysis indicates the presence of down-to-basin… Show more

“…The high values of RMS amplitudes may also be related to high porous sands, which are potential hydrocarbon reservoirs. RMS amplitude is similar to reflection strength and it is used in seismic exploration for delineating bright spots and amplitude anomalies [14,21,22]. The RMS amplitude is may be used for identifying coarser-grained facies, compaction related effects, and unconformities.…”

“…Similar E-W trending major growth faults were reported by Oresajo, B. S. et al [28] in Emi Field within Offshore Depobelt in the eastern Niger Delta. Omoja, U. C. and Obiekezie, T. N. [29] also found rollover anticlinal structures within the central part of Uzit Field in onshore Niger Delta basin.…”

“…Description of Study Area: Uzot-field is located at the western Coastal Swamp Depobelt of the onshore Niger Delta Basin, Nigeria (fig 1). The subsurface structure of the field indicates the presence of down-to-basin footwall and hanging wall faults associated with rollover anticlines and horst-block (back-to-back fault) (Omoja and Obiekezie, 2019). Data Collection and analysis: Well log data from sonic, gamma ray, matrix density and resistivity logs from four deep wells in Uzot field were used in the analysis.…”
