Application of an ampholine-functionalized hybrid organic-inorganic silica material for the SPE of aromatic amines

Abstract: An SPE cartridge based on an ampholine-functionalized hybrid organic-inorganic silica sorbent has been adopted for the analysis of aromatic amines including 4-aminobiphenyl, benzidine, 2-naphthylamine, p-chloroaniline, 2,4,5-trimethylaniline, and 3,3'-dichlorobenzidine. Crucial variables governing the extraction efficiency of the material such as the pH of sample, sample loading volume, solvent used for elution, and elution volume have been thoroughly optimized. The adsorption capacities for the six aromatic a… Show more

“…Generally, increasing the volume ration of sample loading volume to elution volume would lead to an improvement in concentration factors . However, adsorption saturation might occur when a large sample volume was applied, which was disadvantageous to extraction recovery and incomplete desorption might occur when a small elution volume was applied, which was also disadvantageous to extraction recovery.…”

“…SPE is a powerful sample pretreatment technique, which has many supercharacteristics such as high enrichment factor, low organic solvent consumption, high recovery, simple operation, and easy automation, so SPE is widely used for separation and enrichment of analytes from real complex matrices . For the SPE technique, the key section is its extraction material that determines the extraction ability.…”
