Application of ANSYS 3D FEM in studies of surface deformation caused by pipe jacking

Abstract: By using site observation data and establishing 3D model using ANSYS software, this paper has discussed the strain change of stratum stress during process of jacking-in and the impact of machine head on ground surface under different frontal resistances. Analysis of the two cases shows that soil pressure reaches its maximum point when the soil is right above machine head, and soil stress will gradually decline when machine head passes over it. It also shows that impact brought by pipe-jacking construction on s… Show more

“…The Exponential Smoothing Method is a time series analysis and forecasting method developed from the moving average method (Table 9). It involves analyzing the entire historical sequence data of the forecasting object, calculating exponential smoothing values, and using time series prediction models to forecast the development trends of a subject [21]. The selections of the smoothing coefficient and the numbers of smoothing operations are as follows:…”

“…With the continuous development of the technology, the pipe jacking method has occupied a position in infrastructure construction [1,2]. In recent years, the research focus of pipe jacking has been the interaction between pipe string and surrounding complex soil environments [3][4][5], the indoor experiments [6][7][8][9][10], the numerical simulation [11][12][13], and the field investigation [14].…”
