“…With the increase of magnification, FE-SEM image of Cl-PS displays a smooth surface, while the DEA-PS bead shows spongy texture. This observation is in agreement with the literature results and indicates successful attachment of functional groups on the surface of polymeric adsorbent [26][27][28].…”

“…1) was prepared by incorporation of a nitrogen/oxygen donor (N 3 O 2 -type) Schiff base ligand namely NAPdien on the polystyrene (PS) polymeric support. The immobilization reaction of NAPdien on the chloromethylated polystyrene polymer and its characterization details have been reported in our previous papers [34,35]. In these papers, we have also reported the capability of PS-NAPdien in the on-line solid phase preconcentration and determination of Co(II) [34] and Cd(II) [35] in different water samples.…”

“…The immobilization reaction of NAPdien on the chloromethylated polystyrene polymer and its characterization details have been reported in our previous papers [34,35]. In these papers, we have also reported the capability of PS-NAPdien in the on-line solid phase preconcentration and determination of Co(II) [34] and Cd(II) [35] in different water samples. The presence of multi-active chelating sites gives the ability to PS-NApdien to sorb more chromium; Cr(III) is retained by forming a stable complex, and chromate is adsorbed by forming the ion pair molecule [H 2 PS-NApdien] 2+ [CrO 4 ] 2− , where [H 2 PS-NAPdien] 2+ is the protonated form of PS-NApdien in acidic media.…”

“…In Table 5, the figures of merit of the proposed method and other selected on-line column preconcentration methods (Anthemidis et al 2011;Chamjangali, Farooji, and Bahramian 2010;Shabani, Dadfarnia, and Dehghani 2009;Anthemidis and Karapatouchas 2008;Liang and Han 2006;Lemos and Baliza 2005;Wang et al 2004) coupled with FAAS for cadmium determination are summarized for comparative purposes. As can be seen, the proposed method is comparable (Chamjangali et al 2010) or better (Anthemidis and Karapatouchas 2008;Liang and Han 2006) than selected similar procedures in terms of enrichment factor and detection limit. Due to good analytical performance characteristics such as sensitivity, precision, and high tolerance to interferences from the matrix, the developed method is considered to be a simple, accurate, and economical approach for monitoring trace level concentrations of trace metal analysis.…”
