Application of Resistivity Sounding in the Exploration for Nigerian Tarsand

Abstract: The extensive tarsand deposits of Ondo and Ogun States of Nigeria have previously been investigated only by the use of geological methods. In a recently completed exploration programme covering a 17 km2 area north of Agbabu, in the Ifesowapo Local Government area of Ondo State, the electrical resistivity technique was used extensively along with other exploration methods. The electrical resistivity survey was made up of 32 Schlumberger vertical electrical soundings (VES). The resistivity curves were interprete… Show more

“…The origin of the bitumen has been discussed (Coker 1990;Ekweozor 1986). Other relevant studies on the deposit and geology of the basin include works done by (Ako et al 1983;Ekweozor 1986Ekweozor , 1990Nwachukwu and Ekweozor 1989;Enu 1987Enu , 1990Enu and Adegoke 1984;Elueze and Nton 2004;Akinmosin et al 2005Akinmosin et al , 2013Akinmosin and Osinowo 2008).
