Solution of Economic Dispacth Problem Using Metaheuristic Methods: Graphical User Interface Aplication
ABSTRACTThermal power plants play an important role in the electrical energy production. In case these plants work together, determining the optimum point of conditions has a great importance in cost of energy which is produced. Moreover, designing a Graphical User Interface (GUI) enables the results to be easily obtained by implementing the developed software. Accordingly, in this study, using Differential Evolution Algorithm (DEA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method which has fact convergence ability and optimal solution reachability and called as metaheuristic methods, optimization algorithms and Interface developed/created for the solution of Economic Load Dispatch (ELD) problem are proposed. Firstly, the developed optimization algorithms are applied to the existing systems in the literature and their validity and superiority are proposed. And then, a package program which is created using C# program in order to utilize the developed algorithms to the systems by the user, easily, is introduced. Results suggest that the optimization algorithms developed by using PSO and especially DGA gives more advantageous results in terms of fuel cost, and the developed interface provides user a great convenience in terms of its application for solving such problems.
