Application of the Chosen Multi-Criteria Decision-Making Methods to Identify the Autonomous Train System Supplier

Abstract: This paper addresses an application of the specific methods of multi-criteria decision analysis to specify the appropriate supplier of an autonomous train in a certain production-distribution company. This company identifies three potential suppliers dealing with the development and purchase of autonomous train systems. In terms of the multi-criteria decision analysis, the WSA method, the Scoring method and the TOPSIS method were used to define a suitable compromise solution. To apply each method, individual s… Show more

“…Taking into account the ranking results of the considered methods (Table 5, columns 1, 2, 3 and 4), the resulting ranking of routes was obtained (Table 5, column 6). To obtain the resulting ranking, a method was applied based on the calculation of the smallest value of the sum of the values of the ranks of the corresponding alternatives [14]. First, the sum of the corresponding rank values for each alternative i A ( 5 , 1  i ) was found, which were assigned to the corresponding alternative after ranking according to the considered methods (Table 5, column 5).…”

“…It means that the elements 𝑦 𝑖𝑗 must be replaced by the input criteria when applying this method matrix by the values of´𝑦´𝑖 𝑗 , which will represent the utility of the alternative 𝐴 𝑖 when evaluated according to criteria 𝐶 𝑗 . The values of 𝑦´𝑖 𝑗 can be obtained for the maximization criteria according to the following formula (Stopka et al, 2020):…”

“…The trend of automation and digitization can also be applied to diagnosing the technical condition of railway infrastructure. The possibilities of an innovative solution of the track length diagnostics, as a basic building block of the railway superstructure, consist in the application of non-invasive diagnostic methods using automatic sensing while the diagnostic train is running [6][7][8][9].…”
