Abstract: This paper summarizes the guidance provided by quantum chemical calculations to the biomimetic syntheses of polycyclic marine furanocembrane derivatives. Polycyclic furanocembrane derivatives are a group of structurally complex and biologically important marine natural products isolated from marine corals.
