The possibility of raising awareness -especially in young generations-about misbehavior online such as hate speech, could help society to reduce its impact, and thus, its negative consequences. In the last years, the Computer Science Department of the University of Turin has designed various technologies that support educational projects and activities in this perspective. In this paper, we describe the creation of a laboratory called #DeactivHate, specifically designed for secondary school students. The laboratory aims at countering hateful phenomena online and making students aware of technologies that they use on a daily basis. We describe the teaching experience of the first year of life of the laboratory held in different high school classes between April 2021 and March 2022 and the outcomes of the technologies and activities tested. In this extended version of the paper, some sections are especially devoted to observe and analyze the impact of the course on students and their perspective on the laboratory.Warning: This work contains words and expressions that could be considered vulgar or offensive to varying degrees. Some discriminatory expressions are included in our written examples (used in our teaching as samples of real online hate speech). We emphasize that all authors of this paper are deeply involved in activities to counter the spread of online hatred and do not condone the use of such expressions in any way.

In this article the topic of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a teaching and learning content for the field of the Digital Humanities (DH) in higher education is examined in more detail. For this purpose, a definition of AI in the context of the DH is given first. Areas of the application of AI topics in European DH degree programme descriptions (Master and Bachelor) are scanned to show whether and how the topic of AI is reflected in course descriptions for prospective students with a focus on Digital Humanities. In addition to focusing the term AI, descriptions are analysed for word frequencies and existing correlations. The results show that AI is not explicitly included as a subject of study in DH course descriptions. Nevertheless, central related themes and methods are highlighted therein. Areas such as languages, literature, cultural studies, and history as well as creative and production areas that have references to digital processes and semi- and fully automated computer-aided methods are mentioned. Overall, the teaching of effective digitally supported and collaborative working methods is an essential part of the degree programs (or is aimed at in the degree program descriptions and thus in the respective degree programs), which addresses core competencies of the learners in the future working world. AI topics are finally categorised and converted into a compact overview with areas of application and two possible exemplary implementation scenarios.

The eighth edition of the Italian Conference on Computational Linguistics (CLiC-it 2021) was held at Università degli Studi di Milano-Bicocca from 26th to 28th January 2022.After the edition of 2020, which was held in fully virtual mode due to the health emergency related to Covid-19, CLiC-it 2021 represented the first moment for the Italian research community of Computational Linguistics to meet in person after more than one year of full/partial lockdown. Although the conference was held in dual mode, we strongly suggested the participants to attend it coming to Milan. Indeed, we received a strong feedback on this aspect from the community, which was eager to meet in person and enjoy both the scientific and social events together with the colleagues. In total, 99 participants registered to the conference benefiting from the early registration fee, 91 out of which expressed their intention to attend the event in person, which we consider as a very positive indication of enthusiasm from the community, given the uncertain situation due to the evolution of the pandemic in Italy.In total, we received 68 proposals, organized in the following specific tracks: Information Extraction,
