As complex products such as automobiles and ships are usually developed at geographically dispersed locations, it brings the difficulty for component model verification and assembly process evaluation. To cope with this challenge, a relatively comprehensive system scheme which supports complex product real-time collaborative interactive assembly is proposed. To get high performance, the technologies such as parallel rendering for complex scene based on pc-cluster, high-efficient collision detection method, the mechanism of event synchronization based on HLA/RTI (High level Architecture/Run-time Infrastructure) are applied. A prototype system named Distributed Parallel Virtual Assembly Environment (DPVAE) is developed. With DPVAE, users at different location can do assembly operation collaboratively by hand or by tool, to conduct the component model verification and assembly process evaluation at the same time. Through a case study of RA750 car assembly, the validity of system functions has been demonstrated successfully.

Resumo: O presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar as principais ênfases e lacunas teóricas sobre a colaboração no design para customização em massa (CM). Para tanto, o procedimento executado contempla uma revisão bibliográfica sistemática (RBS), que resultou em um mapeamento dos principais trabalhos publicados e disponíveis na base de dados Web of Science. Com esse mapeamento é possível sugerir que as publicações enfatizam alguns tipos específicos de colaboração dentro de algumas partes do processo a CM. Porém, identifica-se uma importante lacuna teórica também nesse aspecto, pois não foram encontrados, nesta amostra de artigos, estudos aprofundados de processos colaborativos entre os participantes do design para a CM e algumas especificidades nesse processo, o que acarreta em dificuldades para o avanço da CM no campo do design. Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) has been identified as a key concept within manufacturing industries for improving product quality, time-to-market and costs. Previous works on this field are focused on processes, functions and information models, and those aimed at putting more intelligence on products are related to specific parts of the product lifecycle (e.g. supply chain management, shop floor control). Therefore, there is a lack of a holistic approach to PLM, putting more intelligence on products through the complete lifecycle. In this paper, a PLM framework supported by a proactive-product approach based on intelligent agents is proposed. The developed model aims at being a first step toward a reference framework for PLM, and complements past works on both product information and business process models (BPM), by putting proactivity on product's behavior. An example of an instantiation of the reference framework is presented as a case study.
