The study deals with the uses of honey in Egypt in Greco-Roman Period. We find that honey had a great economic importance at this time, such as its uses in diverse fields. For example, honey was used in religious rituals, and was offered to the dead as a kind of offering. Also, it was used as food, to make honey-cake, deserts and different sauces. Honey was considered to be sugar in this period. Further, it was used as a medical treatment as it contains highly effective antibacterial substances. It was used in the treatment of many diseases such as wounds, eye diseases, cleaning wounds, and diseases of ears. In addition, in the field of cosmetics, it had been used in manufacturing aromatic ointments. This study discusses the use of beeswax in various fields, such as making glue, for lighting, making small statues, medications, and mummification.
