Aptamer based detection and separation platforms for ochratoxin A: A systematic review

Abstract: Ochratoxin A (OTA), one of the most dangerous mycotoxins for human health, has been subjected to numerous studies for separation and detection in minimal amounts. Aptamers as novel recognition elements have been employed to fabricate ultrasensitive biosensors for the detection of OTA and designing delicate analytical tools. This review attempted to comprehensively examine all reported aptamer-based detection and separation platforms for ochratoxin. The most relevant databases were considered to discover all sp… Show more

“…Considering the high toxicity and widespread distribution of mycotoxins, it is essential to construct convenient and sensitive methods to monitor these contaminants for food safety. Biosensors are devices that use biomolecular elements as recognition elements to respond to target analytes and generate detection signals . Today, aptamers and antibodies are two common recognition elements that have been extensively used to construct reliable biosensors for efficient and rapid detection of mycotoxins . The advantages of aptamers are their easy synthesis, facile modification, and good stability.…”

“…There are already some developed methods for OTA detection, including HPLC, ELISA, liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS), etc. [12][13][14]. For example, Zeng et al developed an HPLC method with liquid-liquid extraction purification for the determination of OTA in black tea, and the limit of detection could reach 5.2 pg/mg [15].…”
