Aqua(4-hydroxypyridine-2,6-dicarboxylato)(1,10-phenanothroline)copper(II) 4.5-hydrate

Abstract: The title compound, [Cu(C7H3NO5)(C12H8N2)(H2O)]·4.5H2O or [Cu(hypydc)(phen)(H2O)]·4.5H2O (phen is 1,10-phenanthroline and hypydcH2 is 4-hydroxypyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid), was obtained by the reaction of copper(II) nitrate hexahydrate with the proton-transfer compound (phenH)2(hypydc) in aqueous solution. Both the cationic and the anionic fragments of the proton-transfer compound are involved in complexation. Each CuII atom has a distorted octahedral geometry. It is hexacoordinated by three O atoms and… Show more

“…9). The (H 2 O) 15 cluster by crystal structure of (pipzH 2 ) 3 [Nd(pydc) 3 ] 2 .15.33H 2 O compound [9], as could make (H 2 O) cluster in previous section, forms simultaneously a branched-cage cluster. The 10 water molecules form the cage cluster with 5 molecules as a branch in this cluster (Fig.…”

“…Two complexes of Cu(II) with chelidamic acid, 1,10-phenanthroline and neocuproine were synthesized. 37,38 The title complex is different from another one that has been synthesized by chelidamic acid and neocuproine in crystal system, space group, cell parameters and uncoordinated water molecules, however in both complexes one chelidamate and one neocuproine have coordinated to Cu(II) atom. The Cu(II) atoms in complex adopt a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry being pentacoordinated by one N and two O atoms of 4-hydroxypyridine-2,6-dicarboxylate anion and two N atoms of 2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline (dmp) molecule.…”

“…This has resulted in the formation of new proton-transfer systems, such as (pipzH 2 )(pydc) (Aghabozorg et al, 2006). In this regard, we have so far synthesized several metal organic complexes (Aghabozorg, et al, 2008a;2008b, 2008c.…”
