Abstract:In the article an attempt to comprehensively cover the chronology of the archaeological activity of the well-known local historian, archaeologist and founder of the first museum in Kherson, Viktor Ivanovych Hoshkevych (1860—1928) is presented. His scientific path from a student of the Faculty of History of the Kyiv University to an archaeologist is traced.
