Abstract: This article presents a method for detecting linear objects with a defined direction based on image and lidar data.It was decided to use Gabor waves for this purpose. In electron microscopic image processing, artificial intelligence (AI) is a powerful method for segmentation. Because creating training data remains time-consuming and burdensome, a simple and accurate segmentation tool, which is effective and does not rely on manual drawings, is necessary to create training data for AI as well as to support immediate image analysis. A Gabor wavelets-based contour tracking method has been devised as a step toward realizing such a tool. Although many papers on Gabor filter-based and Gabor filter-bank-based texture segmentations have been published, previous studies did not apply the Gabor wavelet-based method to straightforwardly detect membrane-like ridges and step edges for segmentation because earlier works used a non-zero DC component-type Gabor wavelets. The DC component has a serious flaw for such detection. Although the DC component can be removed by a formula that satisfies the wavelet theory or by a log-Gabor function, this is not practical for the proposed scheme. Herein we devised modified zero DC component-type Gabor wavelets. The proposed method can practically confine a wavelet within a small image area. This type of Gabor wavelet can appropriately track various contours of organelles appearing in thin section TEM images prepared by the freeze-substitution fixation method. The proposed method not only more accurately tracks ridge and step edge contours but also tracks pattern boundary contours consisting of slightly different image patterns. Simulations verified these results.

In this paper, continuous wavelet transform and discrete wavelet transform are used to detect transient anomalies entrained in normal information and to demonstrate their components. Multi-scale analysis of wavelet transform, Haar wavelet basis and multi-scale edge detection algorithms are utilized to determine the modal extreme points and identify the edge points for faster and more accurate extraction of edge features of the image. In order to further validate the applicability and feasibility of wavelet transform for printing images and to determine the quality inspection criteria based on ink penetration depth and image phase anisotropy, MATLAB software is utilized to perform simulation tests. The results show that the wavelet transform can remove the noise generated by uneven illumination and printing background during the printing process and can detect the edges of the printing image with an error accuracy of ±0.063mm and meet the error correction accuracy of <0.4mm as required by the printing standard. The experiments verify the feasibility of the wavelet transform, which can characterize the depth of penetration of the printing ink and the image anisotropy and provides a theoretical basis for improving the quality of printing. The experiment confirms that wavelet transform can be used to measure printing ink penetration depth and image anisotropy, giving a theoretical basis for improving printing quality.

Using LiDAR System as a Data Source for Agricultural Land Boundaries

In this study, LiDAR sensor data were used to identify agricultural land boundaries. This is a remote sensing method using a pulsating laser directed toward the ground. This study focuses on accurately determining the edges of parcels using only the point cloud, which is an original approach because the point cloud is a scattered set, which may complicate finding those points that define the course of a straight line defining the parcel boundary. The innovation of the approach is the fact that no data from other sources are supported. At the same time, a unique contribution of the research is the attempt to automate the complex process of detecting the edges of parcels. The first step was to classify the data, using intensity, and define land use boundaries. Two approaches were decided, for two test fields. The first test field was a rectangular shaped parcel of land. In this approach, pixels describing each edge of the plot separately were automatically grouped into four parts. The edge description was determined using principal component analysis. The second test area was the inner subdivision plot. Here, the Hough Transform was used to emerge the edges. Obtained boundaries, both for the first and the second test area, were compared with the boundaries from the Polish land registry database. Performed analyses show that proposed algorithms can define the correct course of land use boundaries. Analyses were conducted for the purpose of control in the system of direct payments for agriculture (Integrated Administration Control System—IACS). The aim of the control is to establish the borders and areas of croplands and to verify the declared group of crops on a given cadastral parcel. The proposed algorithm—based solely on free LiDAR data—allowed the detection of inconsistencies in farmers’ declarations. These mainly concerned areas of field roads that were misclassified by farmers as subsidized land, when in fact they should be excluded from subsidies. This is visible in both test areas with areas belonging to field roads with an average width of 1.26 and 3.01 m for test area no. 1 and 1.31, 1.15, 1.88, and 2.36 m for test area no. 2 were wrongly classified as subsidized by farmers.
