Are Non Conventional Pets Potential Carriers of Zoonotic Viruses? A Two Years Study

Abstract: We investigated by Real-time PCR and end point PCR the presence of 10 potential zoonotic viruses in 91 small mammals sold as pets in pet shops of Southern Italy. The animals were analysed for: aichivirus, sapovirus, astrovirus, hepatitis A virus, noroviruses (GI and GII), rotavirus, circovirus, coronaviruses.
