Arguing with Behavior Influence: A Model for Web-Based Group Decision Support Systems

Abstract: In this work, we propose an argumentation-based dialogue model designed for Web-based Group Decision Support Systems, that considers the decision-makers’ intentions. The intentions are modeled as behavior styles which allow agents to interact with each other as humans would in face-to-face meetings. In addition, we propose a set of arguments that can be used by the agents to perform and evaluate requests, while considering the agents’ behavior style. The inclusion of decision-makers’ intentions intends to crea… Show more

“…Multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) provides a comprehensive framework for building computational intelligence capable of emulating the decision making process of experts and stakeholders (Carneiro et al, 2019;Del Vasto-Terrientes et al, 2015;Beynon et al, 2001). This framework has been extensively used to produce expert systems for decision support under multiple criteria (e.g., Lakhani et al, 2019;Glaize et al, 2019;Bystrzanowska and Tobiszewski, 2018;Dehe and Bamford, 2015).…”

“…We believe this will allow the tourists to feel part of the process and understand it. The dialogue model will also have a high level of expressiveness, meaning the agents will be capable of acting according to different intentions and motivations in the same dialogue, mirroring their tourist, as mentioned in our previous works [26,27].…”

“…Thus, we propose a system that potentiates the communication between decision-makers. Obviously, it is different to communicate in face-to-face contexts and through an online application [93,94]. So, the communication should be more structured than the one practiced in presential contexts.…”
