ARPC2 promotes breast cancer proliferation and metastasis

Abstract: Actin-related protein 2/3 complex (ARPC2) is an actin-binding component involved in the regulation of actin polymerization. It mediates the formation of branched actin networks and contacts the mother actin filament. Migration and invasion are key processes which enable tumor cells to infiltrate blood vessels or lymphatic vessels, and the actin pathway plays a very important role. Given that ARPC2 is critical to this progression, the present study focused on ARPC2 activity in breast cancer (BrCa) cell invasion… Show more

“…AS014; 1:3,000; ABclonal Biotechnology Co., Ltd.) for 1 h at room temperature. The protein bands were visualized using an ECL reagent (EMD Millipore) and analyzed using the Tanon 5200 image acquisition system (Tanon Science and Technology Co., Ltd.), as previously described (30). The band intensity of western blotting was measured by densitometry using Image-Pro Plus J software (version 6.0; National Institutes of Health).…”

“…Kaplan-Meier survival analysis for the remaining CCCassociated biomarkers showed a significant correlation between positive expression of ARPC2, GNB1, KCTD10, RPL13A, and TRIO and unfavorable prognosis (OS or OS/DSS), which is in agreement with the RNA-seq results. ARPC2 plays a crucial role in actin polymerization and elevated expression thereof was correlated with unfavorable outcome for breast cancer patients (37). Moreover, a potential drug, benproperine, has been suggested to target ARPC2, and thus inhibit cell migration and metastasis in cell and mouse studies (38).…”

“…In addition, TRIM62 is a putative tumor suppressor and the TRIM62 levels represent an important prognostic marker in lung tumor (32) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) (33) and cervical cancer (34). ARPC2 promotes proliferation and metastasis (35,36). REV is an oncogenic retrovirus.…”
