Artificial Intelligence and technology in COVID Era

Abstract: Application of artificial intelligence (AI) in the medical field during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) era is being explored further due to its beneficial aspects such as self-reported data analysis, X-ray interpretation, computed tomography (CT) image recognition, and patient management. This narrative review article included published articles from MEDLINE/PubMed, Google Scholar and National Informatics Center egov mobile apps. The database was searched for “Artificial intelligence” and “COVID-19” a… Show more

“…This concise overview will enable future research in this area with clear directions/gaps. Specifically, we highlighted the data related challenges that need to be resolved to yield higher adoption of AI, as AI has already demonstrated effectiveness in many aspects related to the COVID-19 [100][101][102][103][104][105]. Thus, we summarize AI use based on actual data used/processed, AI models applied, and purpose/service achieved in COVID-19 context in Figure 14.…”

“…Nevertheless, AI can supplement the surgical field after the pandemic by replacing traditional procedures with more efficient systems. Ahuja and Nair add to this point by insisting on the positive attributes of AI, such as self-reported analysis, the management of drug infusions, and image recognition [ 18 ]. Furthermore, AI algorithms have an accuracy rate of 95.2%, similar to that of humans, only that machines solve complicated relations while using enhanced judgment [ 18 ].…”

In Addenbrooke hospital in Cambridge, England, the integration of artificial intelligence was evident, where the hospital used AI tools to predict the oxygen needs of various SARS-CoV-2 patients globally [ 19 ].…”

“…Among digital technologies, the use of AIED technology for online learning has become more popular than before to help educators to address teaching challenges such as social isolation, heavy workload and students’ lack of motivation (Westera et al, 2020 ; Zhu et al, 2020 ). During the pandemic, school administrators and teachers have been seeking better alternatives to improve their teaching, enhance students’ interactions (Ahuja & Nair, 2021 ; Kexin et al, 2020 ), and facilitate administration (Chen et al, 2020a , 2020b ). For example, intelligent tutoring systems propose automatic personalized suggestions and tasks according to learners’ profiles (Cao et al, 2021 ; Kochmar et al, 2020 ).…”

“…Overall, the rapid shift to online education during the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the incorporation of AI technologies into education systems around the world (Hwang et al, 2022 ). AIED applications offer effective support for teachers and students to facilitate their teaching and learning in different subject areas (e.g., language, medical education) (Ahuja & Nair, 2021 ; Liang et al, 2021 ). The way how educators teach and how students learn has been dramatically influenced by AI technologies to enhance students’ learning outcomes, achievements and attitudes in the post-pandemic world.…”
