Preparing for classroom learning is a concern for teachers since it may affect learner participation and achievement. To address this concern, teachers are advised to use mini‐quizzes featuring open‐ended or multiple‐choice questions before class or during class. However, preparing these questions and sharing them with learners may require that teachers devote a considerable amount of time and effort, as such questions need to be aligned with the curriculum and course objectives. Recent advances in technology, especially in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), have introduced new possibilities to teaching and learning practices, including creating questions for a given topic or text. First, this entry reviews several studies on the use of AI in creating questions for pre‐class learning. It then provides a list of AI Web sites that can be used to create questions for assessment purposes. Finally, the benefits and challenges of using AI‐generated questions are discussed and implications are noted.
