Ascending hierarchical classification for camera clustering based on FoV overlaps for WMSN

Abstract: Wireless multimedia sensor networks (WMSNs) currently face the problem of rapidly decreasing energy due to the acquisition, processing and transmission of massive multimedia data. This decrease in energy affects the life of the network, resulting in higher overhead costs and a deterioration in quality-of-service. This study presents a new grouping strategy that somewhat reduces energy reduction problems. The objective is to group cameras in the WMSN according to their field of view. The proposed system begins … Show more

“…Several solutions and many approaches have been proposed in the literature to improve the effectiveness of data collection and aggregation . Most of the proposed solutions are based on clustering techniques of IoT sensors . Recently, in the field of video surveillance systems, Benrazek et al proposed two methods of grouping camera sensors to limit the communication area only in the cluster and to avoid the risk of network congestion when cameras transmit massive multimedia data over the network.…”

Recently, in the field of video surveillance systems, Benrazek et al proposed two methods of grouping camera sensors to limit the communication area only in the cluster and to avoid the risk of network congestion when cameras transmit massive multimedia data over the network. Based on the communication interest, physical proximity, energy availability and communication channel quality of wireless IoT nodes, Tsiropoulou et al proposed a new technique to form homogeneous coalitions rather than clustering.…”

“…Coverage path planning (CPP) is categorized as a subtopic of route planning in robotics, where it is necessary to obtain a path that guarantees complete coverage with minimum overlapping. 9 The energy restrictions and flight limitations of drones have piqued the interest of researchers because they have a direct effect on the success of CPP missions.…”

“…With the rapid development of sensor hardware technology in recent years, the conventional sensor networks have been integrated with the sensing nodes of videos, images, and other multimedia information to form a novel distributed sensing monitoring network, the Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network (WMSN) [1]. WMSN is constructed based on multimedia sensor nodes, it can accurately and comprehensively monitor the environment within the applied range, therefore it has a broad application prospect in the field of large-scale monitoring, especially the key area monitoring along traffic lines [2].…”
