N… Show more

“…Incidence rates reported in the identified studies were 18.5 and 13.4 cases per 100 000 person-years for Argentina and Brazil, respectively. 10,13 These numbers are comparable with those reported for southern Europe (16.5), but lower than those for northern Europe (29) and North American countries (38). 46 Regarding prevalence rates, substantial differences were seen between regions, from 0.7% in Nuevo Leon to 2.8% in Yucatan (Mexico), 17 and between countries, from 0.15% in Colombia 15 to 1.6% in Mexico.…”

“…Souza et al investigated the impact of regular physical exercise on the QoL (SF‐36) of RA patients; 28 the RA self‐reported exercise subgroup (n = 49) reported significantly better QoL than the RA non‐exercise subgroup on the SF‐36 domains of physical functioning ( P = 0.0000), role physical ( P = 0.0002), bodily pain ( P = 0.0001), general health ( P = 0.0002), vitality ( P = 0.0031), and social functioning ( P = 0.0001). Another cross‐sectional study compared the QoL (SF‐36) of RA patients (n = 22) by disease severity; 29 the group with high disease activity score (Disease Activity Score on 28 Joints [DAS‐28] >5.1) differed significantly from the groups with low (DAS‐28 ≤3.2; P ≤ 0.01) and moderate (DAS‐28 > 3.2 ≤ 5.1; P ≤ 0.001) disease activity on the domain of bodily pain. For the domain social functioning, a significant difference was found between the groups with high and moderate ( P = 0.03) disease activity.…”
