Abstract: Although anxiety disorders appear to occur less frequently in elderly persons, subsyndromal anxiety and anxiety associated with other medical and psychiatric disorders are significant sources of morbidity. Theories of etiology of anxiety range from the psychodynamic to the neurobiologic.
