Assessing China’s Investment Risk of the Maritime Silk Road: A Model Based on Multiple Machine Learning Methods

Abstract: The maritime silk road policy of China brings opportunities to companies relating to overseas investment. Despite the investment potentials, the risks cannot be ignored and have still not been well assessed. Considering the fact that ICRG comprehensive risk has certain subjectivity, it is not completely applicable to China’s overseas investment. Therefore, based on the data of the China Statistical Yearbook and International Statistical Yearbook, a new indictor is adopted to better capture the Chinese investme… Show more

“…e joint feature matching model of university learners' entrepreneurial risk assessment in the entrepreneurial practice environment is established, and the assessment of institution learners' entrepreneurial risk in the entrepreneurial practice environment is realized over the ambiguity detection and semantic analysis. However, the clustering of traditional methods for college students' entrepreneurial risk evaluation in the entrepreneurial exercise environment is not good, and the precision degree is not high enough and, therefore, unsatisfactory [20]. e evaluation of educational effects directly affects the quality of school students' modernization and entrepreneurship education [21,22].…”

“…In [137], the authors considered project costs and use artificial neural networks to output the associated costs and risks. In [138], a new OFDI metric is employed to predict future overseas investment risk by training the previous year's ICRG data and the next year's OFDI data with a KNN algorithm to obtain predictive power. Table Ⅴ presents the methods of these related works and their advantages.…”

“…Alternatively, microscopic risk refers to a risk that affects a single industry or company within a specific field and can be controlled according to the business's nature and strategy in order to protect the company. As a result of the microscopic risks associated with FDIs, companies with investments overseas need an integrated approach to managing risk, and risk management methods, such as risk control and risk finance, must be integrated into the risk management process [45]. Companies with overseas investments reduce their risk exposure and reduce the size and uncertainty of losses by using risk control techniques such as risk avoidance, diversification, combination, transfer, and loss control.…”
