Abstract:<p>Submarine Groundwater Discharge (SGD) is recognized as a major source of water and solutes to the coastal ocean, and it is particularly relevant in arid or semi-arid zones. SGD is generally defined as the flow of groundwater from continental margins to the coastal ocean, including thus both fresh groundwater from aquifer recharge and seawater recirculation through the coastal aquifer. Due to its high heterogeneity both in space and time, SGD is difficult to detect and quantify. As a consequenc… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
