Vibration processes play a significant role in the modern industry. In most cases, vibration reduces strength, reliability, and durability of industrial machines, mechanisms, and structures, as well as adversely affects the health of support staff. This study presents a new dry friction shell shock absorber design. The shock absorber contains two spring sections and a friction module with an open shell and an elastic filler; at the same time, the spring sections and the friction module work in parallel. The proposed device demonstrates good damping characteristics, capable of operating under high operating loads, and at the same time has compact transverse dimensions. With a nonmonotonic loading of such a shock absorber, due to the contact interaction of the filler with an open shell, part of the energy that is supplied to the system will be dissipated. In other words, in response to the action of an external nonmonotonic loading, the phenomenon of structural hysteresis occurs in the friction module of the shock absorber. To describe the deformation of the shock absorber, a mechanical and mathematical model of a shell with a cut along the generatrix, which is the main bearing link, has been developed. By means of the technique of quasistatic analysis of structural damping in nonmobile nonconservative shell systems with a deformable filler, the hysteresis loops of the presented shock absorber are analytically described. Using them, according to the known loading history, it is possible to predict the behavior of the considered nonconservative system at any time after the start of the loading process. At each stage of the cyclic loading, the distribution of stresses and relationships between the external loading and the piston displacement was studied. Inequalities are obtained for permissible loads under which the operation of the shock absorber is safe. Such shell shock absorbers are projected to be used in the mining, oil and gas, and construction industries.

Purpose. To develop a comprehensive model of a mining enterprise, to define types of models for mathematical modelling at all management levels, and to determine principles and approaches to the formation of new input data concerning both technologies and their subsystems while combining the technologies. Methodology. To achieve the goal, a systems approach is used, which allows selecting the types of models for modelling the enterprise activities in terms of technologies and subsystems and determining the method of generating own input data for them. For this purpose, the following was completed: the available literature and patent sources were processed and generalized; scientific and technical papers on the selection and application of the varieties of models in mining were analyzed; the principles and individual approaches to the input data formation for mathematical modelling were considered. That makes it possible to select a software mechanism and create simulation models for effective management of a mining enterprise. Findings. Types of models for mathematical modelling at the operational, tactical, and strategic levels of enterprise management were determined and substantiated. Connection between the types of models used by management levels was specified. An expert survey for modelling at the operational level, simulation modelling at the tactical level, and dynamic programming at the strategic level of management were selected. A schematic diagram of modelling of a mining enterprise, whose structure included technologies and their subsystems at various management levels, were developed. The principles of input data formation to model all subsystems, either operating or being prepared for their implementation, were studied. The authors own approaches to the input data formation at the levels of management and technological subsystems were defined. Originality. While performing a particular solution of the discrete problem by Bellman method, dependences of minimizing the operations for enterprise management while forming a technological chain of a mine, provided meeting the requirements of production process continuity, were obtained. These studies are aimed at establishing a complex information system with its division into elements, each of which is then used to simulate the whole mining enterprise. Practical value. It means developing a comprehensive model of a mining enterprise, determining the types of models for mathematical modelling at all management levels, establishing a new way of input data formation in terms of both technologies and their subsystems with the implementation of additional mineral-mining technologies.

Mathematical model and methods for solving heat-transfer problem during underground coal gasification

Purpose. A mathematical model development for heat transfer during underground coal gasification based on the transcendental equation solution by the Newton-Raphson method. Methods. The heat-transfer model development is based on the research into a temperature field with a variable size of the gasification zone when passing through the phase transformation boundary, which changes abruptly. The research on the coal seam T(x, t) temperature field and the displacement length of the phase transition boundary S(t) is based on the integration of the differential heat-transfer equation with the fulfillment of one-phase Stefan problem conditions. The proportionality factor (β), characterizing the ratio of the displacement length of the “generator gas – coal” phase transition boundary to the time of coal seam gasification, is determined by substituting the Boltzmann equation and using the Newton-Raphson method based on solving the obtained transcendental equation. Findings. The main problems related to laboratory research on the coal gasification process have been identified. A mathematical model of heat transfer during underground coal gasification for a closed georeactor system has been developed, taking into account the effective change in its active zones. Originality. A mathematical model of heat transfer during underground coal gasification at the phase transition boundary has been developed, under which the one-phase Stefan problem conditions are fulfilled. Dependences of the change in the underground gas generator temperature, taking into account the change in the active zones of chemical reactions along the length of the combustion face and the gasification column, have been revealed. In addition, the dependences of the change in the phase transition boundary of a “generator gas – coal” heterogeneous system have been determined, which characterize the displacement length of the phase transition boundary on time and reveal the relationship between the thermal conductivity coefficient, specific heat capacity, as well as bulk density of coal and its calorific value. Practical implications. A method has been developed to determine the displacement length of the phase transition boundary of a “generator gas – coal” heterogeneous system and its relationship between the time and temperature of gasification process. This makes it possible to predict in the future the change in the active zones of the underground gas generator along the length of the gasification column.
