Abstract: Brazilian ginseng (Pfaffia glomerata) is a native plant from Brazil traditionally used in folk medicine to treat several diseases, as nutritional supplement for athletes. Its properties are associated to the steroid beta-ecdysone present in the Brazilian ginseng roots.
