The article scientifically substantiates the formation of the ecological frame of the urban area in arid conditions. The object of research is the greening system of the city of Elista, the capital of the Republic of Kalmykia. The main methods of the study are analytical, cameral and comparative geographical methods. The study shows that the intensity of traffic, physical, geographical and meteorological conditions and the condition of streets affect the gas content of the city’s air basin. The zones of active pollution by emissions into the air are intersections and stops of public transport. The dust-collecting capacity of leaves of certain types of vegetation does not adequately ensure the sanitary and hygienic state of the city’s atmospheric air. Based on the principle of a systematic approach to the problem, ecological-functional zoning of urban landscapes, as the basis of the ecological framework, has been carried out. The structure and its main elements that can act as "cores" and "corridors" of the ecological framework are presented. The study found that open, unconverted spaces account for about 26% of the city’s area. The implementation of the principles of forming an ecological frame and the broader use of conifers for landscaping in Elista is aimed at solving an urgent problem, namely, improving the ecological situation in the city and providing a favourable, comfortable environment for the population in arid conditions.

The applicability of the topic is conditioned by the increase the share of the recreational forests and the development of the urban agglomeration. The purpose of the study was to determine the recreational capacity of natural green areas, followed by an ecological and economic assessment. In the work, recreational and sanitary-hygienic assessments were carried out, the stages of digression, the classes of stability of plantings were determined, followed by an ecological and economic assessment of suburban green areas. The weighted average value of the ecological recreational capacity is determined. In plantations with a predominance of oak or pine in the existing types of forest growing conditions, the specific value of the ecological recreational capacity is the same, therefore, approaches to the development of these forests may be the same. To assess the ecological potential of plantings, the content of carbon, absorbed carbon dioxide, and oxygen released by them were calculated. The results of the calculations show that the maximum amount of C2 is observed in mixed stands with a predominance of oak, the minimum-in pure pine stands. Obtained results of the investigation let to realize the forest planning, taking into consideration the results of the eco-economic estimate.
In the city of Osh, one of the acute problems when using wood species in landscape design is the study of their ecological properties in relation to the environment. The planting of trees in urban parks, squares along streets and boulevards is influenced by various environmental factors. In such conditions, the study of the ecological state and viability of plants is relevant, since woody plants perform sanitary, hygienic and aesthetic functions in an urbanized environment. The main purpose of this scientific article is to identify in the conditions of the city of Osh, the peculiarities of the development of ornamental species of woody and shrubby plants, the ecological justification of their reconstruction, to improve the sanitary and hygienic condition and the development of practical recommendations in landscape works. The study of the characteristics of tree and shrub species and the results obtained to assess their role in the structure of urban parks in Osh will help to improve their decorative qualities, the correct choice of their placement, care and improvement of the urban environment. The results of the work can also be used in the construction and reconstruction of green spaces in parks in the city of Osh, as well as in the improvement of other public facilities in the city. The practical recommendations obtained from the results of the study initiate a large-scale reconstruction of planted species of trees and shrubs in parks, squares and along modern streets.
