Abstract:The circle of Willis (CoW) is a critical, arterial structure that ensures balanced, cerebral-blood supply. The fetal-type posterior cerebral artery (f-PCA) is a CoW variant that can significantly affect hemodynamics and elevate the risk of cerebrovascular diseases. This study used computational fluid dynamics simulations and a patient-specific, three-dimensional model to evaluate the hemodynamic effects of the f-PCA variants on cerebral-blood flow and key hemodynamic indices—such as time-averaged wall-shear st… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
