Assessing the impact of transport policy instruments on road haulage energy efficiency

Abstract: This paper focuses on elements of transport policies affecting energy efficiency of road haulage. The purpose is to present a tool developed to support decision making during the policy making process, at the stage of formulating the elements of transport policies. The paper describes a model developed to assess the impact of policy instruments on fleet energy efficiency by multi-criteria ranking applying the Analytical Network Process. The paper describes the possibilities to employ the defined model giving t… Show more

“…Moreover, road passenger transport had a share of 82.2% in the EU's total passenger transport (in passenger-kilometers) in 2014 and a share of 86.3% in the USA [10]. To consider the interdependence of the road transport energy efficiency and overall vehicle effectiveness, numerous strategies, studies and reports dealing with road vehicle fleet energy efficiency increase have been analyzed [11][12][13][14][15][16][17].…”

“…The imperative of sustainable transportation requires increasing efforts to reduce energy consumption from transport sector [1]. For this reason, in many countries constant efforts are being made to create and implement a number of policies and measures to reduce energy consumption and to its efficient use [2]. One of the possible solutions is to replace vehicles that ran on oil-based fuels with alternative fuel vehicles [3], or in this particular case, to replace diesel buses with alternative fuel buses.…”
