“…An effective RAS for large scale trout culture was developed in Denmark, a country in maritime climate with strict criteria for wastewater (Jokumsen & Svendsen ). As traditional trout farms have significant effects on the downstream environment (Amirkolaie ; Camargo, Gonzalo & Alonso ; Webb ), aquaculture was limited to the maximum annual amount of feed to restrict nutrients concentration in effluents. Hence, RAS for trout culture rapidly came into use to maximize aquaculture productivity while maintaining environmental standards (Jokumsen & Svendsen ).…”
