Assessment and management of chronic pelvic pain

Abstract: Chronic pelvic pain is a very common symptom and a frequent reason for women to consult a GP. Aetiology and therefore appropriate management can be difficult to ascertain, particularly as the cause of pain is often multi-factorial. It is therefore essential that GPs can conduct a structured consultation, and know how to examine and investigate women presenting with chronic pelvic pain.
