Kerala is one among the unique destinations of travel lovers. Its unique attraction makes Kerala as the most popular tourist destination in the world. Lakes, beaches, backwaters and houseboats are the unique selling point of Kerala’s tourism industry. Most of the travelers are enchanted by the backwaters. It becomes the most enjoyable and not-to-miss tourist products in Kerala for the holiday, leisure trips of domestic and international tourists.The main objective of this study is to identify factors that encourage tourists to visit backwater regions of Kerala and host community’s perception of the impact of tourism on the environmental sustainability of Backwaters of Kerala. In order to accomplish the study objectives, a survey questionnaire was developed for this research.The questionnaire included questions regarding tourists’ perception and attitude towards the backwater tourism, as well as consumer preference and the factors affecting tourism demand for backwater tourism. Descriptive statistics, T-test were conducted to accomplish study objective.

Waste management on small islands has challenges, low awareness of the community and culture, limited land, seasonal changes and appropriate waste management technology. Moreover, Penyengat Island is an object of cultural preservation and tourist destination. The purpose of the case study is the small tourist island of Penyengat, Tanjungpinang in waste management through the role of stakeholders and community participation. This type of research is qualitative, and data are obtained by semi-structured interviews and observations. Interviews were conducted with 21 stakeholders in the small island waste management system. (government, private sector, public, universities and professional organizations). Waste management at the location of destisation and cultural preservation requires synergy from all stakeholders including the community. There needs to be a form of compensation for environmental services in tourism development so that an eco tourism tourism package is formed. There is a balance between ecological, economic and social aspects.

The built environment affects thermal conditions in an urban space, thereby affecting the visitors' thermal comfort. The objective of the study is to determine the effects of landscape attributes on microclimatic conditions and public thermal perceptions at an urban square in temperate and dry region. Simultaneous measurement and questionnaire surveys were conducted in winter and summer in Isfahan, Iran. Thermal stress was found to be higher in summer than in winter. Evaporative cooling by water and providing more air velocities were two useful ameliorating strategies. The visitors were most sensitive to changes of air temperature (Ta) rather than other parameters.
