Assessment of ATR‐NIR and ATR‐MIR spectroscopy as an analytical tool for the quantification of the total polyphenols in Dendrobium huoshanense

Abstract: In this study, the potentiality of applying attenuated total reflectance near‐infrared (ATR‐NIR) and attenuated total reflectance mid‐infrared (ATR‐MIR) techniques combined with a partial least squares (PLS) regression technology to quantify the total polyphenols (TPs) in Dendrobium huoshanense (DHS) was investigated and compared. The real TP contents in the DHS samples were analysed using methods of reference. The capability of the two IR spectroscopic techniques to quantify the TPs in DHS was assessed by the… Show more

“…The average absorption spectra of the dendrobe with or without TMPP are shown in Figure 2 . The peak absorption value in the range of 4000–10000 cm −1 was passed through NIR to obtain the composite spectrum of the absorption peak of different types of compounds in dendrobe, such as flavonoids, polysaccharides, dendrobine, and amino acids [ 36 , 37 ]. Generally, the chemical composition of dendrobe directly affects its spectral characteristics.…”
