Assessment of disc brake vibration in rail vehicle operation on the basis of brake stand

Abstract: The scientific aim of the article is to present the relationship between the vibroacoustic signals of the right and left friction pad during braking, depending on the mass distribution, as an element of the lever system. This article presents the results of tests of a railway disc brake in the scope of vibrations generated by pads in various states of wear located on both sides of the brake disc. The tests were carried out on the brake stand using the vibroacoustic method including the analysis of amplitudes a… Show more

“…The various values were obtained, despite the fact that the lever mechanism is characterized by a symmetrical construction of the right and left sides. A detailed explanation of this phenomenon is described in [ 37 ]. For further analysis, the results measured on the holder from the side of the brake cylinder were used.…”

“…With the improved YOLOv3 architecture, Yao, Z [24] et al used the machine vision method to detect foreign bodies, which improved perception and target detection abilities. Several studies have investigated the relationship between mass wear of brake pads and brake process characteristics, and the wear of brake pads has been studied scientifically by Sawczuk W [18] et al An HMCB network combining MSCN and BLSM is proposed by Xue Bin [23] et al to predict RUL. To describe the drift of degenerate trajectory, Rodriguez-Picon LA [16] et al integrated several hazard rate functions in the inverse Gaussian process.…”

“…The maximum temperature value was 93⁰C on the upper right friction pad, while the lowest contact temperature of the pad with the disc was 74⁰C on the lower left friction pad. In the work [22], the problem of uneven distribution of pad pressures relative to the disc was explained by the change in the geometry of the linkage system and the uneven distribution of the masses of the right and left sides of the linkage mechanism.…”

“…During these tests, the requirements regarding vibrations and noise generated by the braking systems de-scribed in [16] are additionally checked. The work [22] also indicated the dependence of the weight wear of the friction pads on the vibroacoustic signal generated by the disc brake. All the issues raised require knowledge of the mechanism of friction and wear of friction materials described in works [1,9], which, in addition to models of friction and wear, are based on statistical tests carried out in bench and operational conditions [15].…”
