Assessment of Dowel Bars Performance in Concrete Pavement Containing Crumb Rubber of Tires

Abstract: Solid waste management is one of the big challenges facing most countries around the world. Reusing these wastes in construction project represent one of the most efficient ways to consume these wastes and reduces the demand on natural sources. The Crumb Rubber (CR) of tires is a source of a huge amount of solid waste that can be reused in construction projects such as paving of roads. The current research presents an experimental investigation for the dowel bars performance in rubberized concrete pavement. Th… Show more

“…To maintain the global trend towards sustainable construction materials, the demand for cement plants must be reduced by using waste materials or by-product materials as supplementary cementing materials to reduce the demand for virgin materials and increase the solid waste management. Using 45% of west material in HMA has a benefit environmentally friendly mix with lower expected Global warming potential, Eutrophication potential, and Acidification potential values for a 60-year analysis period [3,4]. For this reason, we need to partially replacement of cement with a sustainable material in various applications, such as (concrete constructions, masonry mortar, plaster, grouting injection technology, etc.…”

“…Waste materials' constituents improve the functionality of asphalt materials in certain ways. In particular, laboratory studies have shown that it is feasible to use crumb rubber modification (CR) made from scrap tires for vehicles as a modifier for asphalt binder, HMA and concrete pavement [11][12][13].…”
