“…For Plectropomus leopardus, the reported Lm50 ranged from 31.56 cm (Kapopposang Marine Tourism Park [20]) to 47.78 cm TL (Kei island [20]), with the Kwandang Bay population being the second smallest, around 14 cm less than in the waters around Kei Island and around 9 cm less than in Sumbawa. The Lm50 for V. albimarginata in Kwandang Bay was very close to that reported from Saleh Bay [40] but smaller by around 4 cm than that from Sumbawa Island [41]. The Lm50 of V. louti in Kwandang Bay was considerably smaller by around 7 cm than that reported from Sumbawa [41].…”

The only other site with data on all three species is Sumbawa, where the Lm50 values were considerably larger than in Kwandang Bay for all three species.…”

“…The declining trend of the catches in Kwandang Bay is consistent with the reports from some other fishing grounds in Indonesia, such as Bangka Island (Adibrata et al, 2018), Saleh Bay (Efendi et al, 2020), Takabonerate National Park Waters (Fatma et al, 2021), and Sumbawa (Hilyana et al, 2021). Other groupers producing countries also reported similar trends (Kaunda-Arara et al, 2003;McClenachan, 2009;Giglio et al, 2014;Mavruk, 2020).…”

“…However, the implementation of these customary rules is not effective yet because some fishermen do not fully understand about customary law. The same thing also happened to fishermen in Sumbawa in grouper and snapper fisheries, they have not utilized local knowledge for fish resource management efforts [21]. As a result, it can reduce the essence of local knowledge itself.…”
