Assessment of levator hiatus by 3D ultrasound volume contrast imaging in normal nulliparas

Abstract: The ability of 3D ultrasound volume contrast imaging in C-plane (VCI-C) in the assessment of female levator hiatus was analyzed in eighty normal nulliparas. Interoperator variability in levator hiatus measurements was analyzed. The comparison of the axial image of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and C-plane image of volume contrast imaging (VCI) in thirty normal nulliparas was also done. It shows that VCI-C can clearly demonstrate the structure and accurately quantitates the size of the levator hiatus. It is … Show more

“…1 shows that the bellow is connected to the auxiliary reservoir through a single orifice, and the secondary suspension damping is entirely ensured by this orifice. When the air runs through the orifice, the air contact area is very small and the airflow moves fast, so it is regarded as one-dimensional isentropic flow through the orifice [10][11] . According to the Bernoulli equation, state equation of ideal gas, adiabatic equation and the contraction flow principle we can compute the orifice mass flow rate as follows:…”

“…However, the practical application shows that both these two evaluation indexes can't express the comprehensive formability of Y-shaped hydroforming respectively, and for the difference of the methods, the results are different and sometimes even opposite completely. In order to avoid the one-sidedness problems which may be produced by single index, an evaluation index which is expressed by the product of effective forming height and average wall thickness on some section is presented in papers [5,6,7]. However, it can't reflect the variation of wall thickness of the whole tube, what's more, it's short of statistics of quantity.…”

“…Rendered 3D volume has the ability to visualize the axial plane with good spatial and superior temporal resolution, with volume datasets obtained per second 10 . Translabial 3D ultrasound can directly display the entire levator hiatus, puborectalis, previouslythe domain of MRI 11 - 14 . The agreement of features of the levator hiatus in 3D ultrasound and MRI was moderate as shown in a study of Kruger et al 13 .…”
