Assessment of Performance Indicators of a Large-Span Reinforced Concrete Arch Bridge in a Multi-Hazard Environment

Abstract: Assessment of a single bridge and management system for all bridges in the network is still a major challenge, although much research has been carried out and implemented in existing networks over the last four decades. This paper presents a case study of a long-span arch bridge, the Maslenica Motorway Bridge, located in a multi-hazard maritime environment. Although special attention was paid to durability during design, the bridge required repair after 20 years of operation. The analysis includes an overview … Show more

“…These results support the claim that the factors impacting bridge deterioration are significantly impacted by the region. In addition, a recent study [125] indicated that the management of bridges is still a major challenge that must be addressed. Furthermore, advancements in evaluation methods of bridges can facilitate the development of deterioration models [126].…”

“…Mascia and Sartorti (2011) studied bridge design and its relationship to pathological method and identification of pathologies in concrete, steel and wood bridges. Evaluations of bridge performance indicators have been proposed and implemented in case studies such as Marić et al (2022), Mahdi et al (2022) and Limongelli et al (2018) and many European directives on the quantification of performance indicators to assess bridge quality control have been issued (Santos et al, 2022).…”

“…The construction industry has a highaccident rate compared with other industries because it is a representative labor-intensive industry involving various tasks performed simultaneously [3][4][5][6]. In addition, risk assessment, which identifies and analyzes risks performed by each construction process from a design and construction perspective, is a key element of safety management [7][8][9].…”
