Assessment of physical performance and quality of life in kidney-transplanted patients: a cross-sectional study

Abstract: BackgroundInformation on physical and mental wellness in renal transplantation is limited. Therefore, we performed a cross-sectional study to evaluate and describe the different components of physical performance and quality of life (QoL) in a cohort of kidney-transplanted patients.MethodsPhysical performance and QoL were determined through the administration of validated tests and questionnaires [muscle strength, dynamometer handgrip, tactile sensitivity, visual analogue scale (VAS) for pain, Timed Up and Go … Show more

“…[31] Furthermore, Renal transplant is the best therapeutic anticipation for uraemic patients and has been associated with a major improvement in QoL, lessening in pain, and a general increase in functional capacities. [22] The current study findings concluded that the health-related quality of life is generally enhanced after renal transplantation which is incongruence with most of the other Published by Sciedu Press related studies. [4,32] On the other hand, when comparing with gender the current results showed the majority of the recipients that reported a best and good quality of life were men while the minority were female.…”

“…In addition to its multidimensional character, one important motive to measure the HRQOL is establishing and increasing information about the range of harms that affect the patients. [21][22][23] HRQOL dimensions have become an essential outcome measures in addition to morbidity and mortality rates, in both people health assessment and in experimental trials. Nurses have an exclusive function and must take proficient accountability in assessing and helping renal transplant patients and their families discover how to deal with events efficiently and to accomplish the maximum level of HRQOL.…”

“…All functional assessments were conducted by two trained assessors before the beginning of the HD session, in a quiet environment, using a standardized protocol, and included the dynamometer handgrip strength (HGS), the 6 min walking test (6MWT) and the Fatigue Severity Scale (FSS) [19]. The HGS was measured on the non-fistula arm using a Jamar hand dynamometer, considering the highest HGS value after three trials (with a one-minute pause between trials) [20].…”

“…Literatürde nakilden sonra hastaların, özellikle kişisel özelliklerinin, beden algılarının, öz bakımlarının, otonomilerinin, aile ve sosyal ilişkilerinin olumlu etkilenmesi, duygusal sıkıntılarının ve anksiyetelerinin azalmasından memnun oldukları bildirilmektedir (Esposito 2016). Benzer şekilde bu çalışmada da katılımcıların çoğu nakil olmaktan mutluluk duyduklarını belirttiler.…”
