Assessment of Publication Rates and Number of Citations of Dissertations in University Hospitals Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinics

Abstract

Ö ÖZ ZE ET T A Am ma aç ç: : Ülkemizde yapılan tezlerin bir dergide yayınlanma oranı çok yüksek değildir. Bu ça-lışmada kadın hastalıkları ve doğum kliniklerinden yapılan tezlerin, ulusal ve uluslararası dergilerde yayınlanma oranları ve etkili faktörler değerlendirilmiştir. G Ge er re eç ç v ve e Y Yö ön nt te em ml le er r: : Yüksek Öğretim Kurulu Başkanlığı Tez Merkezinin internet sitesinden 2007-2008 yılları arasında yayın-lanmış, üniversite hastanelerindeki kadın hastalıkları ve doğum kliniklerinde yapılmış tüm tıpta uzmanlık tezleri değerlendirildi. Tezlerin konuları, çalışma tipleri ve yapıldıkları üniversiteler kayıt edildi. Daha sonra internet üzerinden üç ayrı kaynaktan tez sahibinin ismi ile arama yapılarak tezlerin herhangi bir dergide yayınlanıp yayınlanmadığı kontrol edildi. Bu tezlerin 30 (%19,9)'u Science Citation Index (SCI) ve Science Citation Index-Expaded (SCI-E) grubu dergilerde, 26 (%17,2)'sı SCI ve SCI-E dışı Ulusal Akademik Ağ ve Bilim Merkezi (ULAKBİM) tarafından taranan ulusal hakemli dergilerde, 3 (%2)'ü SCI ve SCI-E dışı uluslararası dergilerde yayınlanmış idi. Yayın başına alınan atıf sayısı 1,2/yıl idi. In this study, the rates of publications in national and international journals and the factors that are effective in publication were evaluated. M Ma at te er ri ia al l a an nd d M Me et th ho od ds s: : All medical dissertations that have been prepared at obstetrics and gynecology departments of university hospitals and presented between the years 2007 and 2008 were analyzed from the web site of the thesis center of education council. The topics of the theses, the types of studies, and the universities where they were made were recorded. Then the authors's name were searched whether the dissertations were published in a journal or not, by searching the dissertation in three different resources. R Re es su ul lt ts s: : A hundred and fifty-one dissertations were included in the study. Among them, 30 (19.9%) were published in the Science Citation Index (SCI) and Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCI-E) group journals, 26 of them (17.2%) were in national journals which are scanned in National Academic Network and Science Center (ULAKBİM) and 3 (2%) were published in non-SCI and non-SCI-E international journals. Publication Rate of Specialization in Medicine Theses in Medical Ecology and Hydroclimatology in Turkey: A Cross-Sectional Study
