Assessment of random logitudinal and lateral vibration on human body fatigue using a physiological approach

Abstract: Lateral and logitudinal mechanical oscillations occuring during the use of transportation means, constructional machines, and other similar means influence human body fatigue. As a rule, they have random character. Former investigations in this field were mainly based on determination of human body behavior under the influence of harmonic oscillations. Recent studies indicate that man is more 1.5(2)–10(Hz) in the range of sensitive to random oscillations. In this paper an effort is made to define recommendatio… Show more

“…1–3 Despite the high magnitudes of horizontal vibration, the biodynamic responses of the seated body to fore-and-aft vibration have been addressed in a few studies. 412 Paddan and Griffin 13 reviewed published studies of the transmission of translational seat vibration to the heads of seated subjects, in order to determine the variations in transmissibility results. Donati et al.…”

“…Shoenberger 8 considered the subjective effects of combined-axis vibration on ride comfort through experimentation. Demic 9 investigated the physiological effect of whole body vibration on human body fatigue. Incorporating all of the efforts made through the 1980s, several quantitative measuring indices for the ride comfort of a vehicle were introduced by several institutions, such as the International Standardization Organization (ISO) 10 and the British Standard Institution (BSI).…”
