Assessment of reaction between thorium and polyelectrolyte nano-thin film using Box–Behnken design

Abstract: Sandwich type polyelectrolyte nano-thin films (PENTFs) were prepared by using polyallylamine hydrochloride and polyacrylic acid from layer-by-layer assembly process with spin coating system. Their nanostructures have been studied by scanning electron microscope, atomic force microscope, and attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. In order to understand the effects of the initial concentration of thorium, initial solution pH, temperature, and contact time on the reaction between th… Show more

“…Therefore, research and implementation of new and safe methods for water disinfection are necessary (Grochowicz et al., 2015). Nanotechnology is a general term that refers to all advanced technologies in the field of nano-scale work (Aslani et al., 2018). Usually, the nano-scale dimension is about 1–100 nm.…”

“…Response surface methodology was used to reduce experiments number, to evaluate the effect of different factors and their interactions on the response and hence to determine optimal conditions (Cho and Zoh, 2007;Ghaedi et al, 2015;Wang et al, 2007). Box-Behnken design is the most frequently used one of response surface methodology that has been applied in several studies especially to analyse and validate adsorption data (Aslani et al, 2018;Bilgin Simsek et al, 2015;Khatoon et al, 2018;Shah et al, 2017;Subramaniam et al, 2015). In the present work, experimental study of tannic acid adsorption onto calcite was performed according to Box-Behnken design.…”

“…Response surface methodology (RSM), the set of mathematical and statistical methods that are effective for the experimental model building, experimental design, analyzing the developed models, and optimization. Originally, the RSM was suggested by Box and Draper in 1987 and Box and Wilson in 1951 for the model‐fitting of physical tests and after that extended to other fields [54,55] . Box‐Behnken design (BBD) as an extremely impressive method for RSM is a salient method for optimizing procedure conditions that are categorized into a rotatable or almost rotatable second‐order design according to three‐level incomplete factorial designs.…”
